Everything you need to know about how to get featured on Cream Puff Labradoodles' Instagram, even if you’re brand new to the app.
We love nothing more than seeing your adorable Cream Puffs living their best lives! Whether they’re frolicking in the park, curled up on the couch, or posing for the camera in their latest bandana. We’re always on the lookout for special moments to share with our Cream Puff family.
If you’re new to Instagram, or just unsure how to get your Cream Puff featured on our page, we’ve created this detailed guide to walk you through everything you need to know. From mentions and hashtags, to tags and stories, we’ve got you covered!
First Things First: Instagram Terms Explained
If you’ve ever wondered what the difference is between a mention, a tag, and a hashtag, you’re not alone. Here’s a quick breakdown:
Tagging (aka “Tag People”)
This is the most important way to make sure we see your post!
When you upload a photo, you’ll see an option to “Tag People.”
Tap that option and physically tap on your dog in the photo.
Type in and select our Instagram handle: @creampufflabradoodles
Why it matters:
Tagging us directly in the photo helps Instagram sort your post into our tagged photos, where we check regularly for new content to repost. Even better, tagged photos go directly to our inbox, making it very easy for us to find, share and save them.
A note on scheduling apps:
If you're using an app to schedule your posts and tag us that way, those tags don’t always get delivered to our inbox. They still appear in our tagged section, but it may take us longer to find them. If you’re hoping to be featured, we highly recommend posting natively through the Instagram app.
Mentions (aka “@creampufflabradoodles” in your caption or comments)
Mentions are when you write our handle in the caption or a comment, like “Best day ever with our @creampufflabradoodles pup!”
Mentions are lovely and help us to spread awareness because your audience sees the mention and may click on our page from it, but Instagram can make them hard to find, especially because we receive hundreds of messages and notifications daily. Mentions don’t always get sorted in one place, and they often disappear into the mix.
Hashtags (like #CreamPuffLabradoodles)
Hashtags were once the primary way to discover content on Instagram, but the platform is now deprioritizing them in favor of search engine optimized captions.
A couple of years ago you could click on a #creampufflabradoodles hashtag and all posts using it would display in chronological order, showing the most recent first. This is no longer the case - Instagram now displays algorithm preferred content first, making it hard for us to find recent posts from smaller accounts that only have the hashtag as a method of drawing our attention.
While hashtags are fun and helpful, they aren’t the best way to make sure we see your post.
A Note on Competitions:
Occasionally we may run a competition inviting you to post content using a specific hashtag to enter, when we do this we thoroughly audit the hashtag first to make sure it is unique and to ensure we will be able to find all publicly posted content using it.
How We Feature Our Cream Puff Family
Every day, we try to repost every post we are tagged in to our Instagram stories. It’s our way of celebrating our pups and sharing the joy they bring with the whole community.
We also love reposting standout photos directly to our main feed. Here’s what we look for when sharing posts on our page feed:
That you have tagged us in your photo, mentioned us in your caption, or used #creampufflabradoodles in your caption - this signals you are giving us permission to post your content and that you want us to feature your content
High-resolution imagery
Good lighting
Eye contact and visibility of both eyes (those soulful stares melt us every time!)
A setting or expression that captures your Cream Puff’s personality
While we want to include as many different Cream Puffs on our feed as possible and work really hard to do this, we are a business and we do also need to ensure that feed posts are of the highest quality possible.
Private Accounts
If your account is private, we unfortunately cannot see your posts, even if you tag us. So if you’re hoping to be featured, you’ll need to set your profile to public for us to view and share your post. This is why many people choose to set up a public account specifically for their dog - so they can keep their own account private.
Pro Tip: Add Us to Your Bio!
Want to make it easier for us (and other Cream Puff families) to find you?
Add @creampufflabradoodles to your dog’s Instagram bio. That way, we can quickly spot your account is a Cream Puff account, follow you back, and keep an eye out for future posts. It also helps the rest of our community discover and connect with your pup, too!
Our Community
We are so proud of the incredible Cream Puff community that’s grown over the years. You are kind, supportive, joyful, and so generous in sharing your lives with us and each other. Watching your puppies grow up brings us endless joy, and we are honored to be a part of your journey.
While we try our best to repost every tagged photo and story, our DMs can get very full. Tagging us in your post using the “Tag People” feature is the best way to make sure your pup gets their moment in the spotlight.
We do love when people do all three: tag us in the photo, mention us in the caption, and use our hashtag #CreamPuffLabradoodles. This triple-layer approach helps us build and grow our community, and it helps new families find us, often thanks to the beautiful photos and heartfelt support you share online.
As a welcome, we try to share every new account we find with a “Welcome @” post in Stories. It’s our way of helping you grow your own audience and share the joy of watching your pup grow with others.
Content We Don’t Share
We love celebrating all kinds of moments, but there are a few reasons we may not repost a photo, examples of these include:
The audio on your content contains profanity
The post includes political content
The post is giving advice to others about how to raise their dog
We do our best to keep our page a warm, welcoming, and neutral space for all.
